A Fighting Chance!
Unfortunately, some dogs are not so lucky and the past continues to haunt them for some time. Our dear sweet Nina has had an incredibly hard life, a life that no animal deserves!
Nina is a mixed breed pup, a Heinz 57, that was pulled by Catering to Cats and Dogs from the shelter. Soon after she was delivering 14 puppies. Sadly, 4 of her babies didn’t make it but she was able to care for her 10 puppies, a proud Momma. We are pretty sure that this wasn’t Nina’s first rodeo in motherhood.
We want Nina to find a home just like we found a home for her 10 babies, but sadly Nina is now in intensive care fighting for her life.
Nina’s Story
It appears that at one point Nina had an embedded collar, which means her collar grew into her neck and should of been surgically removed by a veterinarian. Unfortunately, her “caretaker” didn’t get her the proper treatment that she needed and deserved, they improperly removed the collar themselves, and let it heal on its own. No doctors, no medicine, no sutures to pull her severed neck muscles back together. The necrotic skin was healed over with new skin creating a vulnerable situation that would later (now) become a life or death situation.
Nina is having extensive procedures done as we speak, to help remove infection, remove dead skin, tissue and help get her neck to a place where it can heal correctly.
